Day off from work on Saturday so after my girlfriend left for work i went to Buxton to do a few hours chub fishing.
I arrived at the river at around midday and decided to take no pike fishing gear with me as i know i would've been distracted from the chub fishing.
Baits for today were lobworms and homemade cheese paste.

The weather was quite reasonable, quite warm considering, cloudy but with a fair wind.
The river itself wasnt looking at its best, very low water level and very clear.

I walked straight past the mill and started off near the train bridge, fishing under a sunken tree with a weed raft.

I had no luck there and i tried a load of other swims up and down the river, but no luck anywhere.

Another angler fishing the same strecth had a few jacks out, nothing of any great size but good fun anyway.

Towards the end of the day i walked back up to the mill end of the stretch and fished a fast flowing and very shallow part of the river, just below the mill.
Using the cheese paste i managed to get a few bites and hooked up to one fish, not huge but very strong, a small brown trout.

Probably one of the bigger trout i've caught, possibly a PB.

A few pictures of the river.

Thanks for reading, Chris.

The river looks a bit bleak! Any overhanging trees or other weed rafts? Lovely looking brownie! Esp the red spots. Never forget bread - crust or flake - probably caught me more chub than anything else!

Nice looking brownie Chris, tha water does look a bit " feature lacking "

I bat its a blinder of a stick float venue tho,
The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.
