River was full of fish, but due to the gale force winds many bites were missed and fish lost
Rain kept off - small mercy.

As said previously, there were a lot of fish to be had but presentation was hard today.

I'm heading to Portneal Lodge in a few weeks and was up yesterday for a look around. The river looks decent enough, but the pegs are overgrown and showing very little signs that they are being used. The lake on the other hand was full of fish by the looks of it, although the carp were very easily spooked, i assume due to the clear water.

Can anyone shed any light on what the river is like at Portneal Lodge?

I have done quite a bit of carping in England and France so have a fair idea of what to get at for the carp and tench but then again it is still a fairly new venue so any help would also be appreciated. I assume it'd be best to fish tight to the lillies with natural baits feeding little and often to save spooking the fish.
